The InterContinental Hotels of San Francisco are looking for an experienced and professionally energetic Area Executive Chef.  Totaling over 900 guest rooms and 70,000 square feet of banquet space, this exciting role manages the Reservations Departments of both InterContinental-branded hotels in the beautiful city of San Francisco.  Applicants should possess above-average customer service skills, a positive deameanor with the ability to manage a wide-range of colleague and guest issues, and a thorough knowledge of San Francisco. 

 
Candidates must exhibit exceptional intrapersonal skills and culinary experience in addition to excellent customer service, the ability to handle all guest needs, concerns, and accommodations along with developing positive relations.  This challenging position has overall responsibility for managing the operation of both kitchen including food preparation and quality, physical maintenance, and inventory functions to ensure hotel quality standards are met. 

 
Key responsibilities of the role include:
* Manage the day-to-day operations and assignments of the kitchen staff, communicate goals, and assign/prioritize work. 
* Ensure all staff are properly trained and have the tools and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions.
* Ensure that all menu items are prepared and presented according to established recipes and standards. 
* Develop menu design and concepts for all food and/or bar outlets, and catering events.
* Maintain procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage of food and beverage products, kitchen inventory, and equipment, (2) replenish supplies, inventory, uniforms, etc. and (3) to minimize waste and pilferage. Ensure that all kitchen equipment is in proper condition and cleaned on a regular basis. 
* Ensure all kitchen areas are cleaned, mopped, and properly stocked according to anticipated business volume and in accordance with sanitation and health department requirements.
* Participate in the preparation of the hotel's annual budget and the setting of departmental goals. 
* Other duties as directed.

Qualifications include completion of a degree or certificate in culinary arts (Master's (M.A.) or equivalent) and/or four (4) to ten (10) years experience as a Chef, with a least five years in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and culinary/kitchen operations experience.

 

Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler cards as required by local or state government agency.

 

May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
