HEIGHTENING THE CHIC in CHICAGO

The Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago is the contemporary debut of Radisson Blu in North America. A true representation of the brand, it is designed to become a destination in itself. As a Pastry Cook, you are responsible for the preparation of all food items in the Pastry Department while maintaining quality and quantity control and presentation in accordance with established standards of quality, food cost and labor cost. Additional responsibilities include:

-Solid understanding of a pastry/baking operation within the hotel;
-Practice the importance of producing a consistent, quality product that meets and exceeds the guests' needs in a timely manner;
- Person has basic skills in department training and is capable of assuming department responsibilities in the absence of the Pastry Chef.
-Skills and knowledge to include culinary education and cost control preferred. - Previous culinary training and background in an upscale hotel or freestanding restaurant;
-A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar position;
-Must possess a good working knowledge of food quality, hygiene and sanitation, kitchen safety, food presentation and be familiar with OSHA requirements;
-Must be energetic and have a desire to learn;
-Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

-Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to effectively communicate with department managers, team members and guests
-Must possess a strong team spirit

Physical Demands:
-This position will spend 100% of the time standing.
- Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water.
-Ability to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly;
-Ability to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions.
-Ability to hear with 100% accuracy with correction.
-Ability to stand and exert well paced mobility for an eight (8) hour shift.
