A/C Technician

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of property HVAC equipment including air conditioning, refrigeration, low temp equipment, and other.

Hotel Overview:The Fairmont Orchid Hawaii is a luxury AAA four-diamond Kohala Coast oceanfront resort with white sand lagoon, Hawaiian Spa Without Walls, golf, extensive meeting facilities, year-round children's program, five restaurants and tennis, all serviced with Aloha. We are currently looking for new colleagues to join our 'Ohana and share that Aloha here at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawai'i.

Summary of Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Chief Engineer who will direct day to day job assignments such as those noted above and additional tasks

* Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
* Be available to cover other than standard shifts in the event of urgent repairs.
* Be able to communicate effectively with the staff in all departments to clearly understand the repairs being requested
* Be able to communicate effectively with parts vendors / suppliers to ensure replacement materials and parts are ordered and recevied as quickly as possible
* Most have a "Universal Refrigeration Certification" from the EPA
* Responsible for the repair and maintenance for walk in, reach in, free standing refrigerators, ice machines, free standing A/C units, guest rooms A/C units and roof top cooling units and central plan chillers and pumps.
* Keeps inventory of supplies and parts for A/C and refrigeration equipment.
* Maintain an accurate preventive maintenance program to ensure the equipment is maintained on a regular schedule basis.
* Schedule air handler on/off times for schedule functions on the Arlington Energy management system.
* Performs chemical test on chilled water and cooling tower water loop as needed.
* Balance airflow for proper air circulation on the air handler as needed.
* Required to be responsible for specified equipment and areas of responsibilities.
* Must have knowledge of chiller operations and air handler operation
* Must have knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
* Must have knowledge of pumps repair, alignment and maintenance.
* Must have knowledge of OSHA, fire and department of health standard, codes and requirements.
* Must be able to read blue prints and schematics. 
* Previous experience is an asset
* 2-3 years of relevant experience required
* High school degree
* Must speak, read and write English
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in either written, oral, diagram or schedule form
* Must have a valid driver's license
* Must have an EPA Universal Certification for type 1-2-3 (required)
* Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience of at least five years that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
* Must have at least 2 years experience with repairs on both air conditioning and low temperature / refrigeration equipment

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

* Constant standing and walking throughout shift
* Frequent use of ladders while performing repairs in overhead positions
* Frequent repairs in lower light level conditions, assisted with work lights.
