Human Resources
* To assume the role of head of department in the absence of the Assistant Chief Engineer and Director of Engineering.
* Attend fire and emergency procedures training as instructed by hotel management.
* Attend any other training courses that are deemed necessary, to enable you to perform your job more efficiently, as instructed by the departments management.
* Maintain the link of two-way communications between management and colleagues by daily departmental operations meetings, individual counseling and open forum sessions.
* Review and prepare the engineering duty shift schedule.
* To carry out a weekly review and report of the engineering colleague attendance and sickness record.
* To enforce discipline on the engineering colleagues and take any corrective action in accordance with the hotel's and MOHG policy and procedures.
* To assist the Director of Engineering in Company's appraisal system (Performance Management and Development System PROFILE) for monitoring staff performance and development by providing direction and feedback to staff in adhering to service procedure.
* To encourage colleague suggestion program and other effective methods of two-way communication management by participation.
Procedures and Service Quality
* Support company's philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.
* To ensure through effective planning and organizing of systems and procedures, productivity, efficiency and consistent, high level of service is achieved.
* To ensure that through quality control checklists, constantly training colleagues, monitoring guest and colleague feedback and attention to detail an outstanding service is provided.
* Through continuously searching for new ideas and product improvements guests and colleagues demands are met.
* To ensure through continuous physical checking of all areas within the Hotel and all aspects of the Engineering services, implementation of standard procedures to achieve the highest standard of maintenance.
* Assist the hotel's preventive maintenance program for all aspects of the hotel (including life safety equipment), and ensure tasks are completed competently and within a given time.
* Carry out daily review of the department's logbooks, record sheets and daily of events to ensure all maintenance requests have been completed and any outstanding items have a next day follow up response.
* Ensure that any work requests that come from hotel's guests or senior management are responded to within a given time. All such requests are to be recorded along with what action is taken.
* To assign the maintenance requests from other departments to the relevant maintenance trades and ensure these request are completed competently and within time. Also to formulate a monthly reporting form, highlighting the engineering departments "clear up rate" and progress made on maintenance requests.
* With the assistance of the Director of Engineering / Assistant Chief Engineer and relevant H.O.D. carry out weekly tours of hotel kitchens, restaurants, bars and function rooms to ensure the highest standard of health and safety and maintenance is constantly achieved.
* To meet with the Director of Engineering and Assistant Chief Engineer on daily basis to ensure the continuity in the operation of the engineering department is maintained at all times.
* Coordinate with Housekeeping Department a program for taking rooms out of service for immediate rectification as required.
Finance
* To assist in prepare monthly and quartile reports, reviewing improvements in standards, goals, manpower and operational costs.
* To work with the Director of Engineering to monitor and control the engineering expenses without reducing quality of service, or impacting on our guest's satisfaction in any way.
* Continually analyzes and report to Director of Engineering on a departmental costs to ensure performance against budget.
* Assess any suggestions or ideas put forward by the Hotel's staff to reduce wastage of resources.
* Constantly strive to reduce utility costs for the Hotel without reducing quality of service or impacting on our guest's satisfaction in any way.
