National property management company based North of Atlanta (GA) is looking for a self- starter Hotel Controller with strong hotel accounting background  to handle multiple properties.  This position will  perform accounting and budgetary work and other financially related tasks as required by the CFO & VP of Operations.  This position will be required to prepare financial statements and reports, analyze costs, maintain budget files, interpret and analyze financial records, prepare bank reconciliations and various month end schedules.  He or she will be applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare monthly internal and external reports.  Interaction will be required with the various departments throughout the company.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from operating departments

Ensure that the P&L is accurate, and that statements are delivered to the appropriate individuals and/or departments in a timely manner

Reconcile Balance Sheet and ensure that account balances are supported by appropriate documentation, in accordance with SOP's

Perform various monthly closing responsibilities

Responsible for the accurate and timely recording and reconcilement of various general ledger accounts

Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations

Review and reconcile prepaid and miscellaneous accrued accounts

Completion and filing of monthly sales, use and occupancy tax returns and remittances

Assist in the annual budgetary process including keying and reformatting Excel spreadsheets

Ensure each hotel's daily sales and deposit information are balanced

Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues. This will include the accurate and timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms, and timely deposits

Ensure all accounts payable invoices are processed on a timely and accurate basis

Set up merchant services and bank accounts

Monitor compliance with hotel accounting policies and procedures, legal requirements and contractual obligations under a management agreement

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, at least 3-5 years of continuous accounting work experience in handling multiple hotel properties is required

 Previous experience with M3  system is a plus

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple, simultaneous, and complex tasks and projects

Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively

Ability to travel as needed

Strong initiative and organizational skills with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail

Advanced verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse operation

 An understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in GAAP accounting
