JOB OVERVIEW
The Sales Manager will be responsible for generating group business in the northern California area, with the primary objective being to maximize revenue generation and market penetration. The primary role is securing new accounts for the property in the association, government and corporate segments through the nurturing of existing accounts, developing potential markets and identifying emerging sources of business.
This position will most likely be based in Sacramento/northern California, with frequent travel and time spent on property in South Lake Tahoe.
The position requires a thorough knowledge of direct sales, account management and distribution channels in relation to group room sales. Must have excellent customer development and interpersonal skills. Due to this position being based in a different city than the property, self-motivation, responsibility, proactive selling and reporting skills are all key components of this job.

Director of Sales and Marketing
SKILLS AND JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ability to apply a proactive and strategic sales approach through various methods, including but not limited to: personal sales calls; phone solicitation; sales blitzes; trade shows, etc.
- Experienced and confident in proactive selling with a book of business and existing relationships in the northern California meetings market
- Work with the Director of Sales and Marketing to determine appropriate group business and business strategies.
- Identify revenue opportunities that result in building the department's top line revenue.
- Broaden productive travel base and increase awareness of the hotel and its new offerings and messages.
- Coordinate and participate in trade shows/seminars aimed at the hotel's target markets.
- Identify untapped wedding business to share with team.
- Have strong customer relationship skills.
- Make sales calls and presentations.
- Financial management skills, ie. ability to understand P&L statements, manage operating budgets, forecasting and scheduling
- Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the department.
- Understanding and leadership in guest hospitality.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Strong customer development and relationship management skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Three years of progressive hotel experience in the Bay Area and California market.
- College degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Opera and Delphi preferred but not required.
- Computer skills required.
- Social media understanding preferred.
- Ability to travel throughout the market area and to and from South Lake Tahoe on a regular basis.
- Must have a valid driver's license in the state of California.
