VP of Finance is responsible for strategic planning, financial analysis, policy development and direct supervision of all accounting and financial functions for Midas managed hotels. Primary responsibilities for Midas managed hotels include the following: financial reporting, review & supervision of monthly closing, developing & maintaining Accounting SOP Manual, cash management, communications with third-party clients & banks, annual preparation of budgets, annual tax return preparation and all treasury administration. The VP of Finance will be part of the team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs and manages company accounting & financial functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Supervise & manage corporate accounting department
- Develops, oversees & maintains Standard Operation Procedure Manual for Corporate Office & Hotels
- Maintain & develop standard financial reporting templates in accounting system.
- Oversees, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
- Oversees financial reporting to third party clients, investors & banks
- Cash management for third-party clients
- Preparation of annual budgets
- Coordinates & oversees all third party audits required
- Oversees Preparation of work papers supporting the annual tax returns
- Coordinate the preparation of annual tax returns with outside CPA firm
- Assist CFO with all duties related to liability, property & casualty and workers compensation insurance policies
- Assist CFO with all duties related to maintaining employee benefit programs
- Oversee and maintain compliance with multi-state sales, lodging & payroll taxes
- Oversee month-end closing process and ensure internal controls are in place
- Analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
- Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances
- Preparation of monthly reforecast incorporating historical results and future assumptions
- Oversee payroll functions in HR department related to accounting functions
- Maintenance of fixed asset records
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations
- Proper analytical review of balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective
- Manage and approval of direct bill accounts for third party hotels
- Establish and maintain credit for third party hotels
Education:
- Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Accounting. The degree should be obtained from a well-recognized university. C.P.A. is preferred but not required
Experience:
- 7+ years' experience in the accounting and finance sector.
- 5+ years' experience managing accountants and the accounting and finance process.
- 5+ years in a position equivalent to a controller or higher responsibilities
- 5+ years of experience working as a controller for a service provider such as a management services, preferably in the hospitality industry
- Strong experience in both the private and public accounting sectors is preferred but not required
This is a very hands-on position requiring a minimum of 7 years financial accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality industry. Ideal candidate will be an accomplished leader with multi-brand experience in a multi-unit role. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced and energetic environment.
