Events Chef

Soho House West Hollywood is looking for an Event Chef. The person reports to the Executive Chef.
We seek candidates with a strong culinary background and who are experienced at managing seasonal menus, Candidates must also have experience with California and other cultural cuisines. We seek someone who is creative with menus and uses only high-end, sustainable, and seasonal ingredients. Our event Chef must work independently and have banquet experience.
Responsibilities:
* Assisting with the hiring, training and discipline of all kitchen staff
* Reviewing and evaluating all kitchen staff
* Maintaining a positive & safe working environment for all restaurant staff in the kitchen at all times
* Responsible for kitchen administration
* Responsible for cost control
* Works with Culinary in developing and altering seasonal menus
* Ensures consistency, portioning & freshness of all food
* Responsible for purchasing
* Ensures a clean and sanitary kitchen
* Ensures upkeep, repair and maintenance of all kitchen equipment
Required Skills:
* Experience in all stations on the line (preparation of breakfast, lunch, dinner, private functions)
* Ability to work under pressure while not sacrificing quality or consistency
* Has great decision making skills
* Has superb organizational skills
* Knowledge of correct portions and positions on plates
* Proactive, punctual and a great communicator (must read, write and speak English. Spanish a plus)
* Must be committed to the mission and culture of the Company
Required Experience:
* Must have at least 3 years experience as a working Assistant Kitchen Manager, or Sous Chef, in an upscale or fine dining restaurant
* Previous kitchen management experience in a large restaurant or hotel.
