Director of Engineering

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to maintain the entire 30-story hotel, banquet and food & beverage facility and manage engineering and maintenance operations to achieve maximum guest satisfaction, quality service and compliance with company policies and procedures while exceeding financial goals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Maintaining inventory, controlling costs, training, motivating and managing a skilled workforce.
• Overseeing all renovations and special projects along with preventive maintenance and hotel fire safety programs with thorough documentation.
• Coordinating the maintenance, repair and installation of all work assigned to outside vendors and contractors and providing timely and accurate updates to Hotel Manager.
• Preparing and adjusting work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts and processing payroll accordingly.
• Continuously evaluating the performance of engineering and maintenance staff and taking corrective actions when necessary.
• Conducting routine inspections and walk-through of all hotel rooms and public areas.

• Minimum of 10 years of previous hotel property management experience, preferably in a 4-5 star hotel.
• Exceptional organizational and guest service skills; be an effective problem solver.
• Thorough knowledge of the repair and maintenance of electrical systems, HVAC, boilers, mechanical systems, and of the proper and safe use of all equipment, tools, products, and materials relating to the department.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with and instruct engineering and maintenance staff and other hotel departments.
• All licenses and certifications as required by law.
• Expert computer skills in excel, power point, etc.
• Energy management and union labor management skills.
• Capex planning, budget forecasting and security knowledge.
• Able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
