Food and Beverage Director

The Washington Athletic Club is currently seeking a Director of F&B to oversee and support our three in-house restaurants, two full kitchens, and our robust catering and banquets program that has a full load of both social and corporate clients. The F&B Director will work in conjunction with our remarkable F&B management team, as well as other club management and executives to shape the vision of the F&B department and help drive the WAC F&B operations to be even more successful in the future.
Founded in 1930, The Washington Athletic Club is one of the nation's largest and most prestigious private city clubs. The WAC is also recognized in the private club industry as a four-time winner of the 5-Star Platinum Club of America designation. Our restaurants and wine program have also won various prestigious awards, including the 2011 Washington Wine Grand Award.

Responsibilities include:
o Managing and leading the F&B management team, which includes a restaurant general manager, executive chef, banquet manager, and a catering director.
o Working with the management team on operational, marketing, and financial initiatives.
o Developing and maintaining monthly, quarterly and yearly budgets; as well as accountability for financial performance.
o Working with the executive team to ensure all club wide goals and initiatives are met.
o Assisting the management team in the coaching and evaluating of team members, as well as assisting with sensitive employee and member issues.
o Ensuring service standards exceed guest expectations in all outlets.
o Representing the WAC F&B department at social and business functions, and is responsible for communications with other WAC departments, professional organizations, and other persons to enhance the Club's premier status.
A qualified candidate will possess:
o 7-10 years of previous F&B management experience, with at least 2 years of that experience being at a general manager level or higher. Experience in a hotel/hospitality environment is preferred.
o Experience in both fine-dining and casual establishments – experience managing multiple outlets at a time is a plus.
o At least 2-3 years of experience with banquets/catering operations.
o Strong computer skills, especially Outlook and Excel, experience with Caterease and Aloha is a plus.
o Proven leadership and communications skills.
o A degree in the business or hospitality field is preferred, as well as a Sommelier/Wine Steward certification.
o Knowledge of local restaurant unions is a plus.
