Scope of Position
The position of Evening Housekeeping Manager is an extremely critical function in the overall guest experience and their intent to return. Housekeeping represents the largest hotel-related department and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The position oversees the daily operations within the housekeeping department ensuring a clean, properly staffed facility that maintains the highest standards. Additional responsibilities include coordinating timely turnover of guest room inventory to help maximize revenue potential and efficient collaboration with other departments.
Schedule Requirements
The operation of Seaport Hotel is 24 hours a day 7 days a week, inclusive of all holidays. Therefore your schedule must be flexible to meet the needs of the business accordingly. Primarily this shift will work evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for practicing, managing, and promoting our Mission and Values so that it becomes an intricate part of the everyday operation
- Responsible to effectively, efficiently and timely communication with all members of the housekeeping department plus integral departments, the housekeeping team interact with daily to ensure ultimate success.
- Manage daily pre-shift meetings with staff
- Attend daily shift turnover meetings; 3:00PM briefing, etc
- Daily log entries, indicating follow-up & ownership for completion
- Read/react to all group resumes, emails and various other communication modes to ensure you are current on daily activities
- Communicating frequently with Front Office to update status of the day
- Communication of Site Visit Rooms with Coordinator and Front Office
- Employee Training, performance, well being and corrective action
- Input/reporting of necessary information daily (sick calls, tardiness, early-outs, corrective action)
- Filing out assigned employees paperwork
- Updating Kronos Time System
- Adherence of all staff to housekeeping/organizational standards, missions and values
- Execution of Skills Based Training
- Conducting Performance Evaluations
- Room/Suite Maintenance
- Input of Hotel Expert & OOO/Off Market Rooms
- Daily Room/floor Checks to ensure adherence to standards
- Updating of Room Status in the computers
- Inspection of all VIP Rooms
- Selection of Client Site Visit Rooms
- Turn Down Service
- Challenge Status Quo & provide Leadership to the housekeeping staff
- Execution and Maintenance of Assigned Special Projects
- Completes any duties and projects assigned by Department Head
- As a member of the evening management team this person will have to exercise excellent judgment in resolving conflicts, guest concerns, and safety issues.
- Seamless coordination and cooperation with Engineering and Guest Services
Required Job Knowledge and Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills essential.
- Experience in leadership and managerial roles.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods.
- Ability to inspire others
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent experience
- 2 yrs previous management experience
- Experience in a upper mid-scale hotel preferred.
- Housekeeping Department experience preferred.
