Job Description
Upon its opening in 1915, The Claremont Hotel Club & Spa gained a reputation as a retreat on the sunny side of the bay for wealthy San Franciscans looking to escape the fog. The Claremont Hotel Club & Spa is now a Four-Diamond 279-room property boasting 30,000 square feet of meeting space and a 25,000 square foot spa. This beautiful resort is located on 22 acres overlooking San Francisco Bay, approximately 18 miles from Oakland International Airport and 25 miles from San Francisco International Airport. *Spa Services Manager*
Job Status: Part-time
Hours: Flexible
Reports to: Spa Director
Supervision of: Massage and Facial Departments
Essential Functions or Tasks:
- Monitor and aggressively affect revenue goals.
- Constantly pursue the company's best interest in creating product savings.
- Analyze customer service strengths and weaknesses and develop plans as needed.
- Effectively manage the day-to-day operations of service and staff activities.
- Develop and update department rules, regulations and policies.
- Responsibility for fiscal and budgetary management.
- Develop, coordinate and operate service programs.
- Interact with guests in a friendly, service oriented manner.
- Inform director of unsafe equipment, practices or guest reactions.
- Develop and implement short and long range goals and objectives.
- Attend all scheduled spa and hotel staff meetings.
- Conduct departmental meetings once a month. Minutes to be published from each meeting within one week after the meeting indicating action items.
- Ensure department meeting action steps are followed through, share completion of action steps with staff and keep Spa Director informed of action steps progress.
- Promote sales of treatments.
- Supervision of time clock usage and disciplinary action as necessary.
- On a timely basis complete performance reviews for staff with thoroughness and detailed comments.
- Interview and hire job applicants ensuring proper orientation.
- Train staff in proper performance of their respective duties; provide continual feedback regarding job performance.
- Be aware of associates' appearance; promptness with schedule and attitudes with guests as well as with other associates, and consistently "coach" them in the Claremont hospitality standards.
- Responsible for staff being supplied with job tools, professional products, and materials as needed.
- Ensure equipment in departments is in working order.
- Effectively communicate to staff all aspects of spa and hotel business.
- Timely facilitate associate evaluations and appropriate merit increases.
- Supervision of training team monitoring progress and setting goals.
- Handle any problems that might arise in department, including discipline.
- Act as a mediator between departments.
- Make sure that all areas are covered and staff members are performing duties consistently with hospitality guidelines and to the guest's satisfaction.
- To perform manager on duty responsibilities as needed.
- To maintain high standards of cleanliness in the Women's and Men's spa.
- Constantly focus and improve upon D. Richey and Preferred Hotel Standards.
- Maintain open communication with staff including being receptive to personal feedback from staff.
- Include staff in the decision making process as often as possible.
- Create a positive, fun, management friendly action oriented image with staff.
- Perform requested duties of Spa Director as needed.
- Enforcing positive praise and recognition as a means to make change.
- Timely train and provide continuing education for staff.
- Responsible for keeping staff well trained in sales techniques and treatments.
- Prepare and update individual plans and action to be reviewed monthly by the Spa Director.
- Investigate and review on a monthly basis, plans and action of supervisors.
- Responsible for department staff schedules according to weekly forecast and focus on maximizing room usage.
- Create a constant focus for correct body ergonomics.
- Critique product usage while monitoring and preventing overuse of product.
- Supervise the security and distribution of professional products.
- Keep an accurate record of professional invoices by department; maintaining or creating savings for budget goals.
- Ensure professional par levels are maintained and products are available in treatment rooms, etc. as needed by staff.
- Know all technical procedures for the departments, including Spa Soft reservation system.
- Keep attendance records and follow through with staff as appropriate.
Job Requirements
Education, experience, training or skills required:
- Preferable two years experience doing supervision in a business setting.
- College degree preferred.
- Previous spa and/or hotel experience preferred.
- Three-years customer service related experience required.
- Friendly, energetic, dependable and customer oriented.
- Must be very detail oriented.
- Ability to work with a variety of staff and management in a cooperative manner.
- Skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
