Forty 1 North, Newport's newest waterfront resort is seeking a Food and Beverage Director.

The F&B Director will ensure guest satisfaction at all food and beverage outlets by maintaining the highest possible standards of food and beverage products and service while maximizing F&B profitability through cost and labor control.  Responsible for all operating functions of the F&B area including purchases, production, service, storage, sanitation, staffing training, cost control, equipment maintenance and enhancing revenues.

  • Hires, trains, directs, and motivates all F&B personnel.  Oversees scheduling of associates and cultivates high morale amongst staff in order to minimize turnover.  
  • Develops forecasts and budgets in order to contain menu, labor, and other related costs.  Implements and monitors the approved forecasts and budgets.  
  • Recommends and implements promotional strategies and advertising in order to increase F&B revenues and property sales.  
  • Oversees the ordering of all F&B purchases including food, beverages, supplies, and equipment.  Maintains inventory levels to maximize profitability.  
  • Accurately performs end of month inventory procedures.  
  • Maintains an awareness of the competition through periodic inspection and continual review of local promotions.  
  • Supervises food as to company specified preparation, cost quality, quantity, portion control, and associate meal planning.  
  • Maintains equipment and security in all areas of the F&B department.  
  • Inspects all refrigerators and storerooms for excessive inventories, over-preparation, spoilage, and ensures proper sanitary conditions.  
  • Circulates through the kitchen, restaurant, lounges, and banquet areas during peak periods to ensure guest satisfaction.  
  • Prepares, authorizes, and verifies all departmental payroll information.  
  • Maintains operating policies and hours of operation for all F&B outlets, including corporate special and franchise requirements.  
  • Ensures that the department meets the requirements of the Board of Health and the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, as well as any other local governing agencies.  
  • Ensures staff training, development, and adherence to company and property policies and procedures.  Identifies and develops associates for promotions.  
  • Issues and controls cash banks and maintain accountability for all checks.  
  • Hires and supervises entertainment.  
  • Maintains communication between all property departments and participates as a team member on the GM’s Executive Committee.  
  • May function as “Manager on Duty” during late hours when now other manager is on property.  Addresses any emergency or unusual situations or problems which may arise throughout the hotel
