SUMMARY:

Our Sonesta ES Suites property in Somerset, New Jersey (www.sonesta.com/somerset) is currently seeking a General Manager to join their team. The General Manager (GM) is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the mission and overall success of the hotel, by accomplishing performance objectives focused on business revenues, guest and associate satisfaction, and effectiveness and efficiencies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work directly with the hotel's Management Team to manage all activities of the property including employees, maintenance, sales, and profit/loss controls.
• The GM will oversee HR matters including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, coaching/counseling and performance management.
• Ensures that product quality standards are met in all areas of the hotel as it relates to the appearance, levels of cleanliness; establishes and maintains preventative maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the hotel.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and partner with the Regional Director of Operations and team, which includes the ability to take direction and receive performance feedback. This also extends to the Corporate office, including the VP Operations, Sonesta ES Suites.
• This position is also responsible for other duties as assigned, or as needed.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field highly preferred.

3+ years' experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Director of Sales, preferably from extended-stay hotels background. Market familiarity with the Northern/Central New Jersey area is highly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office is required; Opera experience strongly preferred. Ability to speak, read and write fluent English.

This job requires ability to perform the following: Using a keyboard to generate correspondence, reports, etc.; carrying, lifting pushing and/or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds, frequently standing up and moving about the facility, frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility, frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and crawling.

Other:

• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instructions, and training.
• Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently.
• Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.
• Ability to travel to attend meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
• Will be required to work some nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
