The Catering Sales Manager assists the Sr. Sales and Marketing Manager in serving as an ARAMARK representative, acts as the primary representative of the ARAMARK Corporation for the designated client account within his/her operating district and/or component. He/she is responsible for assisting and supporting the successful coordination and directing of all activities within the assigned component and/or unit through subordinate managers, supervisors and employees.

The Catering Sales Manager assists the Sr. Sales and Marketing Manager in working with each client as directed in all matters relating to contractual and component operations in order to establish and maintain a solid and mutually beneficial business relationship. The Catering Sales Manager assists in supporting the highest possible client/customer satisfaction levels, employee relations, component retention and program effectiveness. Assists the Director of Catering in the achievement of mutual ARAMARK and client financial goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Financial

  • Assists in and/or develops a Marketing Plan and budget for the account with the Director of Sales.
  • Develops financial forecasts and balances programs and resources for the component and its sub units.
  • Controls expenses within the component while maximizing revenues.
  • Responsible for attainment of financial goals for the component.
  • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of financial data and contracts.
  • Adheres to financial monitors and audits in the accounting and control process within the component.
  • Develops sales contracts, proposal development, contract negotiations, deposit collection, preparation of Event Orders, event diagrams, event supervision by sales team.

2. Client and Customer Satisfaction

  • Establishes, maintains, and develops client & customer satisfaction at a level that ensures component retention.
  • Administers required client/customer surveys (and other feedback instruments) and responds in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ensures that all employees demonstrate a positive hospitality orientation toward customers and clients.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with the provisions of catering contracts.
  • Develops, implements and monitors a component marketing plan.
  • Ensures that client communication is effective, accurate and timely.
  • Event follow up to include the distribution of the Impression Survey, thank you letter, accounts receivables collections, and rebooking.
  • Accurately assesses the needs of the customer via oral and written communication methods and to distribute the customer's requirements by utilizing an Event Order.

3. Program Quality and Standards

  • Responsible for implementation and effectiveness of programs at the component that adheres to Corporate and Division standards.
  • Takes necessary actions (by the use of company inspection reports) to ensure that all ARAMARK and food and beverage quality and service standards are met.

4. Business Growth and Marketing

  • Increases account revenue and/or operating profit contribution by implementing and building services and creating other opportunities for growth. Up-sell and make creative suggestions to clients.
  • Maintains an awareness of the competition and market conditions internal and external to the component.
  • Responsible for implementation and compliance with the agreed-upon Corporate and Divisional marketing programs.
  • Identifies and recommends new sale and revenue opportunities.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages a working relationship with current, past , and potential clients.

5. Leadership and Managerial Skills

  • Demonstrates and promotes ARAMARK Corporate culture, values and management philosophy.
  • Demonstrates a proactive and enthusiastic attitude in striving for and meeting component's business goals and objectives.
  • Recognizes the importance of effective leadership in meeting the targets set forth in the component's performance Plan.
  • Recognizes the need for and demonstrates good communication and listening skills with clients, customers, and employees.
  • Follows the principle of "Manage by Walking Around (MBWA)" to maintain contact with clients, customers, and employees.
  • Visits other components on a selective basis to ensure that a sharing and exchange of ideas and experiences occurs.
  • Promotes teamwork within the component.
  • Provides continuous feedback on performance and applies appropriate developmental tools to assist in their individual growth. Actively participates in the CMP process.
  • Represents the ARAMARK Corporation both professionally and ethically at all times.
  • Interfaces proactively as needed with all support departments (such as HR, Safety, Marketing, Purchasing) to obtain best results for all concerned.
  • Acts as a positive role model.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES THAT ARE CATERING SPECIFIC:

  • Serve as the ARAMARK representative for catered events.
  • Responsible for providing menu selections to customers.
  • Responsible for following the Sales File Checklist for all events.
  • Must be responsive to customer needs and requests, continually evaluating the quality of the products and services provided to the customer.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining all customer sales files.
  • Responsible for adhering to the dress code.
  • Responsible for working closely with other departments in costing out all food, labor, etc., for all functions.
  • Demonstrates proper phone demeanor
  • Detailed orientated. Assists in decimating details and information for events to appropriate supporting departments.
  • A four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Operations experience at the managerial/supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data.
