The Clarion Hotel & Convention Center in Cedar Rapids, IA has an immediate opening for an Outside Sales Manager. Cedar Rapids, IA has been named one of the top 25 recession proof markets for the last two years and continues to see upward growth.

The Outside Sales Manager is expected to solicit/ service new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections, written communication, and active internet prospecting. The Outside Sales Manager position has the potential to grow into a Director of Sales position if a qualified candidate is able to meet revenue goals and provide leadership to current sales team members.  

Previous Hotel Sales experience is preferred.

General

  1. Responsible for maintaining current corporate and group accounts.
  2. Actively pursing new corporate accounts & group business
  3. Active prospecting, using telephone, internet and social networking.
  4. Develop and maintain relationships with key clients in order to produce group and/ or convention business
  5. Negotiate guest room rates. Confirm in writing to the client all requirements via sales contract.
  6. Conduct tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures.
  7. Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  8. Maintain proper documentation of records and files for follow up and future references.
  9. Attend City events to promote the company, (e.g Chamber & CVB events)
  10. Attend regional and national trade shows promoting all aspects of the facility.
  11. Occasionally assist in breaking down or setting up of banquet space, or assist in food service, requiring lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  12. General / advance computer skills, strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suite products
  13. Must have excellent time management skills
  14. College degree in hospitality or business fields, or minimum of two years sales experience
  15. Maintain a professional internet presence on social networking sites, both personally and for the company.
  16. Maintain a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  17. Maintain a professional image at all times through proper written and verbal communication skills.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
