JOB SUMMARY

Prepares all event documentation and coordinates with sales, hotel departments, and customer to ensure consistent, high level service throughout pre-event, event and post event phases of hotel events; primarily handles events of average complexity.  Ensures all hotel events have a seamless turnover from sales to service back to sales.  Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue opportunities by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events.

 

JOB SPECIFIC TASKS

  • Responsible for management of daily operations within the Events department (BEO meetings, 10 day reports,  event turnover,  department training, participate in other department meetings)
  • Ensure compliance with Marriott Operating Standards to maintain brand integrity
  • Liaison between the Event Booking Center and Event Management
  • Accurately forecast group sleeping rooms and event revenue
  • Completion of banquet forecast on a weekly basis for one year projections
  • Prepares all event documentation and coordinates with Sales, hotel departments, and customer to ensure consistent, high level service throughout the Pre-Event, Event and Post Event phases of hotels events; primarily handles complex events. 
  • Ensures a seamless turnover from sales to service.
  • Proactively identifies operational challenges associated with group and works with hotel staff and client to solve challenges and develop alternative solutions
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality
  • Ensure Event Manager strives to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Sustain a work environment that focuses on fair and equitable treatment and associate satisfaction to enable business success
  • Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by upsetting and offering enhancements to create outstanding events.
  • Develop LSOP and new training procedures
  • Responsible for Event Satisfaction Survey Results
  • Follow up and approve final billing for all events to guest satisfaction
  • Participation in team selling efforts (Sales Blitzes)
  • Perform any other duties as assigned or required by the Company or Supervisor

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Three year Event Management experience
  • Effective sales skills to up-sell products and services
  • Knowledge of menu planning, food presentation, and banquet and event service operations
  • Ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventories
  • Broad understanding of facility management (sanitation, maintenance, operations)
  • Strong customer development and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect department
  • Knowledge of Event Technology products and services
  • Knowledge of contract management and legalities
  • Financial management skills e.g., ability to understand P&L statements, manage operating budgets, forecasting and scheduling
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer and associate relation skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems

Education or Certification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
