If this describes you, we have the ideal position available Pacific Hospitality Group’s premier 4 Diamond property, the Meritage Resort and Spa as a Catering Sales Manager.

The Meritage Resort and Spa, an idyllic Napa Valley luxury hotel and resort, has recently completed its expansion and become a 323 room resort with the most comprehensive event and meeting space in the wine country. This 4-Diamond Tuscan inspired resort includes hillside vineyards as well as our Estate Cave featuring Spa Terra, a beautiful underground luxury spa, Trinitas Cellars Tasting Room and a grand Entertainment Cave for private dinners for up to 180 guests. Far more than a place for unsurpassed relaxation; our unique property is an Old World escape from the ordinary.

We are looking for a Catering Sales Manager who will be responsible for effectively selling the event space, food and beverage, and the function planning services of the hotel to maximize revenues and profits for the hotel. Additional responsibilities include: establishing new accounts, generating revenues, monitoring booking pace, and booking repeat business while keeping quality consistently high.

Essential Functions include:

  1. Targets results-oriented high revenue potential sales calls to ensure a successful direct sales program in accordance with established goals and objectives. Sells catering services to all potential consumers. Pursues new accounts. Maximizes yield management opportunities. Maintains consistent verbal and written communications with clients.
  2. Maximizes current hotel key accounts by identifying and capturing those that offer revenue growth. Consistently books repeat business.
  3. Captures competitor’s accounts through networking and research to target and solicit new business.
  4. Solicits referrals from existing accounts to create new business for the hotel.
  5. Actively participates in industry related organizations and local community to develop business. Makes onsite and field presentations to prospective customers. Attends trade shows and participates in sales blitzes. Maintains efficient and detailed input into Delphi System.
  6. Analyzes requirements of business opportunities. Responds to RFP’s. Outlines available hotel space and facilities. Negotiates function space and food and beverage commitments to yield maximum profitability and enhance the hotel’s financial performance. Quotes prices, conducts site tours and entertains clients.
  7. Attends Business Review Meetings and training. Travels to meet clients. Makes presentations. Conducts familiarization tours. Participates in local community to develop business.

Job Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of catering sales experience in similar sized hotel operation or equivalent
  • Hotel experience  preferred
  • Wedding/social catering experience
  • Delphi experience a plus
  • Flexible to work weekends
  • Experience selling function space as well as F&B, Catering and AV
  • Experience selling Corporate, Wedding and Social markets
  • Track record of developing long-term client relationships
  • Solid knowledge of sales principles, techniques, industry practices, and prospecting activities common to the hospitality industry
  • High level of detail
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales goals by effectively negotiating and closing business
  • Ability to identify, target new accounts, and sell concepts and ideas to customers, management and peers
  • Knowledge of cost control measures (i.e. labor, food and beverage, and materials) involved with events and meetings.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and computer
  • Ability to create and deliver professional, quality presentations in front of groups
  • Effective time management and organization skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet and e-mail.
