Swim Lesson Instructor

Swim Lesson Instructors are responsible for providing instructional learn-to-swim lessons to children ages 3-10.

Essential Duties:

• Supervisors and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
• Collaborate with other swim instructors to insure class continuity.
• Prepare progressive lesson plans to enhance to participant's learning experience.
• Assists in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by Department Manager.
• Enforces the rules of conduct.
• Maintain progression of skills on each participant.
• Teach the provided curriculum.
• Obtain all necessary equipment prior to the start of each lesson and return it afterwards.
• Maintains all necessary records determined by the Department Manager.
• Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Attends staff meetings.

Education/Experience:

• 3-6 months working with children; ability to demonstrate all strokes and skills in the provided lesson curriculum.

Language Skills:

• Required: to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence; to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

Physical Demands:

• Be able to support 80 pounds in the water and sometimes out of the pool.

Certificates/Licenses:

• WSI, Current lifeguard, CPR for the professional rescuer and First Aid Certification.
