The RECENTLY RENOVATED SHERATON SALT LAKE CITY HOTEL is looking for an innovative CATERING SALES MANAGER!  We are looking for experienced catering sales hospitality professional with at least 2 years experience in catering sales for full-service hotel.  Make a difference while growing your career with nationwide leader!

In this role, you will be responsible for: soliciting new catering accounts, overseeing client functions to ensure customer satisfaction, and entertaining and maintaining existing account relationships to meet/exceed food and beverage revenue goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet/exceed revenue goals through soliciting, booking, and up selling new and existing accounts for social catering through various methods including phone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, written communications, etc.
  • Develop a target sales and marketing plan with focus on catering functions.
  • Participate in site reviews, 30-60-90 day banquet forecasting, and annual budget.
  • Book catering functions and help develop banquet menus.
  • Facilitate and communicate details related to catering functions to management.
  • Greet clients and be available during functions to assist.
  • Prepare correspondence and maintain detailed records of discussions, meeting setups, food and beverage, event details, etc.
  • Participate in business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training, catering sales related meetings, etc. and work with other departments to provide quality customer service.
  • Coordinate in-house sales promotions and associate functions.
  • Attend networking, community/social events, and industry meetings.
  • Develop and keep current on market trends, competition, and customers.
  • Conduct exit interviews with clients to solidify repeat business and assess results.
  • Maintain professionalism and respond/resolve guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MUST have catering sales experience in full-service hotel. Prefer 2+ years.
  • Working knowledge of hotel operations, rooms, groups, events, food and beverage sales, catering functions, trends, and similar.  
  • High school education; prefer Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated sales success and effective ability to aggressively up sell and close catering sales.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized with timely follow up, and great documentation skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with ability to develop relationships with other departments, vendors, local community, etc.
  • Passionate about guest service, food and beverage, and event success.
  • Able to accurately use office and accounting software.
  • Flexible schedule to work varying shifts based on client needs and business demands which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
