JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the upkeep and efficient, profitable operation of the hotel by providing a safe, clean, environment where employees provide, and guests experience, flawless customer service that is legendary throughout the industry.
- Monitors compliance with labor standards and staffing guidelines by all departments.
- Monitors compliance with annually established room rate plan.
- Monitors operating expense tracking system for all departments.
- Establishes annual incentive programs for all department heads.
- Conducts staff meetings on weekly basis to ensure interdepartmental communication and coordination of mutual goals.
- Conducts audits on a quarterly basis of departmental procedures and results.
- Monitors Daily Rooms Inventory Control and merchandising procedures.
- Conducts quarterly rate surveys of competitive hotels and monitors program for competitive analysis and price-value assessment.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with amenity programs, franchise and company standards, as well as promotional materials.
- Assures compliance with established M.O.D. Program.
Asset Management: Ensures the attainment of a superior franchise inspection grade overall for hotel property:
- Submits annual Capital and R&M budgets for approval by Corporate Office.
- Ensures completion of all approved Capital and R&M items, coordinating with Regional Director and Manager of Purchasing.
- Conducts daily inspections of guest rooms to ensure housekeeping is meeting/exceeding cleanliness standards.
- Conducts bi-weekly property inspections and approves action plans to include time-table to resolve problems.
Guest Satisfaction/Public Relations: Promotes guest satisfaction in an effort to obtain repeat business of leisure and business markets:
- Evaluates all guest complaints and ensures corrective action is taken by department heads.
- Monitors response letters/corrective action program on response cards.
- Holds a weekly General Manager's cocktail party in accordance with company policy and procedure.
- Plays active role in community through affiliation with various community organizations to promote and maintain positive image for hotel.
Human Resources: Ensures employees are provided with the necessary structure, motivation and training to satisfy their needs and achieve organizational goals:
- Ensures adequate staffing levels are maintained, adhering to labor to budget as P.O.R., percent to sales, and approved staffing guidelines.
- Ensures compliance of all department heads with goal-oriented job descriptions and reviews goals with each individual.
- Ensures development and maintenance of job description in each employee's personnel file.
- Reviews with applicable employees any revisions/additions made to job description.
- Conducts annual performance evaluations on all department heads. Ensures all department heads annual conduct performance evaluations with their employees.
- Encourages promotion from within and employee development through goal setting and employee training.
- Ensures hotel is in compliance with all Federal and State laws with regard to all personnel practices.
Personal Development: Ensures continual efforts are made to increase management abilities and knowledge:
- Attends annually a minimum of one advanced management training seminar.
- Attends classes as necessary to ensure proficiency in operation and basic programming techniques of PC.
- Attends franchise training courses as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
2 years General Manager, or 4 years Asst. General Manager, experience in similar size property
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Management experience in one, or more, of the type of hotels: Airport & Cruise port.
- Hilton experience and certification preferred
