Job Description

Our south-central PA property is conveniently located just 2 miles from the state capitol. We offer 250 guest rooms and over 30,000 sq.feet of meeting space. Our Grand Ballroom, with its capacity to hold up to 1500 people, is our main feature in the convention center. We also offer a full service restaurant, lounge, fitness center, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Essential functions of this position:
Manage and motivate all front office personnel to include assisting the Front Office Manager with staffing, training, discipline, scheduling and evaluating performance to ensure adherence to all service and productivity standards critical to providing 100% guest satisfaction.

Check and control room reservations, front office systems, supply inventory, and scheduling. Assist with forecasting and departmental budgeting to maximize revenue. Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including rate and availability calendar.

Communicate positively with guests and employees, both verbally and in writing, to answer questions, provide clear direction, and advise and instruct staff in details of work. Attend and assist in the conducting of department meetings and obtain and disseminate pertinent information. Assist with check in/out of guests and any other related guest service activity.

Job Requirements

*Minimum one year front desk supervisory experience. Two years combined front desk and supervisory or assistant front office manager experience preferred.
*Considerable knowledge of computer systems for registration, reservations and back-up systems (Opera knowledge is a plus).
*Above average mathematical comprehension to understand and interpret numbers as they apply to operations in hotels.
*Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate effectively with guests and employees.
*Thorough orgnizational and supervisory skills.
*Ability to develop subordinates to enhance advancement in the hotel and corporation.
*Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy, to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.
*Ability to analyze statistical data and make judgments accordingly.
