Job Description

Based in PMHS Washington DC office, this position is responsible for directing the accounting department staff and processes that support hotel operations. This position ensures that the financial operations of the hotels are conducted in compliance with applicable policies, standards, and procedures, as well as, ensures that adequate controls are in place to safeguard the assets of the organization. The VP is accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of reporting to both internal and external parties. This person not only collects and reports data, but also analyzes the content and identifies changes or strategies to enhance operational effectiveness.

  1. Directs accounting and reporting function of the PMHS Support Center and directly supervise staff
  2. Provides guidance, direction and training to centralized and decentralized accounting staff and controllers, and assists them in managing various financial related tasks through the direction of the CFO
  3. Establishes and maintains accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  4. Performs monthly financial reviews to ensure timely and accurate reporting to ownership
  5. Establish, implement, enforce and evaluate policies and procedures designed to achieve company objectives, operational goals, and legal requirements.
  6. Ensure cost effectiveness of staffing utilization, and the quality and quantity of services provided
  7. Develops and trains staff on technical proficiency
  8. Ensures that Support Center mandated policies, procedures, directives, and decisions are fully communicated to all hotels
  9. Direct the timely implementation of new automated financial systems and practices
  10. Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues. This will include the accurate and timely preparation of cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms, and timely deposits
  11. Monitor hotel revenues/expenses and ensure the accurate reporting as per PMHS established procedures
  12. Ensure compliance with all contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes; assist management in maintaining all licenses, permits, insurance, and other regulatory contracts
  13. Direct the PMHS payroll function and staff, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws
  14. Manage the annual budget process ensuring that all partner deadlines are met

Job Requirements

  • Must have 10 years of progressively responsible hotel industry experience in accounting or related field
  • Prefer experience directing a centralized accounting team and decentralized Controllers or Directors of Finance
  • Prefer 4 year college degree in finance or accounting
  • Must be proficient in excel and word and creating spread sheets
  • Prefer proficiency in one or more back office and front office systems
