Director of Food and Beverage

The Royal Sonesta Hotel Cambridge seeks a goal-oriented individual who is passionate about food to lead the food & beverage team in providing high quality cuisine and service. The 400-room, AAA Four-Diamond Award winning Sonesta is located on the banks of the Charles River, commanding stunning views of the Boston skyline.

This position is responsible for a food and beverage operation featuring over 25,000 square feet of flexible meeting, banquet and pre-assembly space spread among 16 rooms. Responsibilities also include the ArtBar (100 seats off season, 200 seats peak season), 24-hour In-Room Dining and Mini-Bars, Catering Sales, Conference Management, Culinary and Stewarding departments. This position shares in the management of F&B Control and Purchasing. Responsibilities include: annual budget, monthly forecasting, merchandising and marketing plans, menus, food and beverage cost control, payroll and other expenses as well as staff hiring, training and development.

Requirements:

This is an ideal position for an individual excited about food and beverage, a high energy level and a desire to succeed. Ten plus years of experience working in all food and beverage areas, with five plus years as Food and Beverage Director or Assistant Director in a large operation. Must have experience in a luxury hotel/food and beverage operation, Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills are necessary. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated history of success in a fast paced environment.

Bachelors degree (B.A.) or equivalent in work experience
