Alaska Denali Travel is looking for an experienced high performer Director of Sales and Marketing. Our Company is located in Alaska; candidates with experience in the tourism industry of Alaska will be given preference.

 

Job Description:

The Director, Sales & Marketing is responsible for maximize profitability of the Company’s overall operations , including our Denali Properties and Restaurants, Day Trip, Motor Coach Service and Packages, throughout planning  and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs, targeted toward existing and new markets. The DSM is also accountable to market performance, budget, forecast and target goals.

Essential Functions:

  1. Create and implements strategic marketing and sales plans and forecasts to achieve Company target for products and services.
  2. Develops and control sales and marketing budget.
  3. Propose packaging and pricing strategy for all company products to achieve the highest short and long term market share possible.
  4. Create effective marketing strategies and manage functions for PPC, SEO, Email Campaigns and Affiliate Programs.
  5. Analyze Google Analytics Data to study the effectiveness of Pay Per Click Ads and overall website usability and online customer behavior.
  6. Oversee account growth via bidding optimization, keyword launches, and ad copy testing
  7. Develop, analyze and report on overall Search Engine Marketing program success with regard to keyword ranking, indexed pages, back links, etc
  8. Administer Social Media vis-à-vis Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and Q&A Sites.
  9. Oversee and administer inbound link building strategy from authoritative sites.
  10. Work with Marketing team and attend industry conferences to stay on top of advancements, trends and changes to algorithms and business practices for companies such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, and others
  11. Develop rates and wholesaler blocks based on analysis of demand and historical data.
  12. Develop and administer marketing database that includes client and prospect information, travel agent mailing list.
  13. Manage advertising and promotional activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.
  14. Maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  15. Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to assure attainment of marketing goals.
  16. Reviews and scrutinize sales performances against strategies and plan to determine effectiveness.
  17. Prepares sales and marketing reports and presents to executive management.
  18. Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.
  19. Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities.
  20. Meets with key clients maintaining relationships and negotiating deals.
  21. Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
  22. Represents Company at trade shows and association meetings to promote products.
  23. Directs product research and development.
  24. Acquire new clients.
  25. Recruit, train, manage and coach sales staff.
  26. Reservation System Administrator and oversee inventory management and reports
  27. Assign sales staff target goals; perform periodic evaluations to control sales progress and effectiveness of marketing programs.
  28. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors Degree in Sales, Marketing or Business preferred.

2-5 years of experience in sales and marketing management including web analytics, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, online display advertising, email marketing, affiliate programs, and social networking preferable in the tourism industry of Alaska.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge of the tourism industry of Alaska.

Excellent computer skills and some technical background.

Good understanding of working with HTML, CSS and PHP
Good understanding of working with Content Management System

Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is a must, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Strong leadership skills

Excellent communication and writing skills
Strong work ethic and the ability to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of information.

Ability to read and understand financial reports.

Deep knowledge of sales and marketing techniques, as well as financial principles.

Demonstrate the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues.

Familiar with Social Media website and communications functions.
