Aloft Silicon Valley is seeking a Food & Beverage Manager for the 172-room, newly- renovated Aloft Hotel Silicon Valley (formerly W Silicon Valley) in Newark, California.  This individual will be responsible for all duties of the food & beverage operation, including Restaurant, In-Room Dining, Bar and Banquets, employee training and development and delivery of high quality guest service.

Job Description

  • Ensure food & beverage quality, service, cleanliness, merchandizing and promotions.
  • Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel and discipline restaurant and banquet staff for the efficient operation of the outlet. Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings. Communicate pertinent information to the staff. Schedule and direct staff in their work assignments.
  • Interact positively with customers promoting hotel facilities and service. Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties. Organize events in restaurant and banquet rooms. Maintain communication with all departments to ensure customer service needs are met. Develop, implement, and change menu items on an as-needed basis.
  • Move throughout facilities and kitchen areas to visually monitor and take action to ensure food quality and service standards are met. Give guidance toward improvement and make necessary adjustments for consistency.
  • Maintain profitability of outlets to support overall hotel operation. Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory, ordering and retrieving supplies and controlling payroll. Review, prepare and update forecasts as needed.
  • Utilize cash handling procedures to accurately charge customers and to create forecast and revenue reports.
  • Assist in training and development of staff in order to provide most positive customer service and employee well being.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years hotel experience with food & beverage service background
  • Minimum of one year supervisory or management experience
  • Banquet Experience preferred
  • Organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, professional  manner and exhibit good judgment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and directly in a positive, clear speaking voice
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to get along with diverse personalities
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Proficient with point of sale software and systems
  • Flexibility to work any shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary
