Position Title:     Director of Finance                                           Location:              Pronghorn

SUMMARY

Plans, directs and coordinates the financial, accounting, and administrative activities of Pronghorn.  Responsibilities for the position include the financial management of the club, development, beverage and appropriate HOA allocations and or related entities.  The position requires a strong knowledge of cash and accrual basis accounting, financial reporting, private clubs and resort hospitality, development accounting and proficiency in computer software environments.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Implements and adheres to policies and procedures for the Accounting function, including compliance of all company accounting standards.
  2. Oversees accounting and administrative controls so as to safeguard the assets of the company by reducing theft as well as internal fraud.
  3. Prepares and monitors annual budget, monitoring revenue goals as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) business volume forecasts.  Reporting on club forecasts down to an EBITDA line.
  4. Monitors and coordinates property plans of overall future objectives, including projection of revenue, cost, net income, cash position, cash management, and capital requirements.
  5. Prepares & submits monthly financial statements & supporting schedules that identify actual, budget, variance and over/under based on the plan.
  6. Performs or monitors daily revenue audits for revenue generating departments (i.e. Golf, Food & Beverage, Lodging etc.).
  7. Analyzes various accounting reports such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, various general ledger and monthly financial statements.
  8. Monitors and manages property cash flow and decides the appropriate timing of issuing payment to vendors. Alerts CEO, General Manager and Regional Controller when cash flow problems exist.
  9. Prepares, coordinates and reviews the closing of year-end books.
  10. Recommends to management the implementation of policies, procedures, processes and controls based on continual analysis of current accounting processes.
  11. Establishes accounting protocols and work flows for the property based on property needs, ensuring compliance with management company’s accounting standards.
  12. Monitors contracts with facility’s vendors.
  13. Ensures collection and payment of applicable local, state, and federal taxes. Prepares or reviews preparation of monthly tax reports.
  14. Responsible for training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  15. Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
  16. Maintain relationships with other financial organizations and agencies, to include banks, insurance companies, government agencies, etc.
  17. Conducts regular staff meetings with subordinates.
  18. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  19. Regular and reliable attendance.
  20. Maintains a professional standard at Pronghorn to include but not limited to appearance, interaction with members, associates, guests of the club, verbal discussions and written correspondence.  Does not discus work related issues with members and guests.      
  21. Supports and adheres to the CORE Values (ie. “The T.R.I.P.”) as defined by the Company.
  22. Other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) with an emphasis in accounting or related field. MBA preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospitality accounting and 2 years in construction accounting.

 

SKILLS

Required

  1. This position requires an individual who is highly organized with a demonstrated attention to detail in accounting and who possesses knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications. Must demonstrate the ability to work with motivate employees at all levels of the organization. Requires a strong working knowledge of the club and resort hospitality industry, Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of property management system.
  2. Critical thinking skills are required to minimize costs and maximize revenues, therefore improving the value of the business.
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with expert level spreadsheet capabilities.
  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Controller, Senior Accountant, AP & AR Clerks, Night Auditors.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  1. Must be a Certified Public Accountant and possess an active CPA License at all times.

 

TRAVEL REQUIRMENTS

  1.  May on occasion be required to travel for business related purposes.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. 
  2. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  3. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.  Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
  4. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
