Job Description

 

The Sawgrass Marriott  is a 506-room Resort overlooking the famous TPC Stadium Course at Sawgrass with 60,000 square feet of conference space, a 25,000-square-foot Spa, and a private Cabana Beach Club. We are currently seeking an experienced Sales Manager for the Midwest Market to  join our team. This position is property based.  

Candidates should have the ability to self-motivate, be a strong team player, and be willing to learn. Excellent relationship-building and negotiating skills, exceptional follow-through, strong organizational skills and strong time-management skills are required.

The Sales Manager will be required to utilize PC applications, including property management systems, database and Microsoft Office products.

 BASIC PURPOSETo manage for a specific market segment(s) all aspects of the sales process. Plan, solicit, book and coordinate group/transient sales to meet/exceed revenue/profit goals. Assumes some supervisory responsibility within sales department

ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE: Position is responsible for negotiating room rates and other sales terms for group and transient groups/accounts. May assist train and supervise sales managers and executive meeting managers.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Solicit, negotiate and confirm new and repeat business through various efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, direct mail, referrals, networking, internet prospecting, etc) to maximize revenues to meet/exceed goals. Efforts are to be in compliance with established sales process standards and local guidelines. May provide support and direction to other sales team members for same.

1. Record, notify and coordinate customer specifications with other departments and quickly, efficiently respond to customer issues, comments and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.

2. Create and distribute effective internal and external communication (written and verbal)

3. Develop and implement creative sales strategy by analyzing historical, current and future hotel/market/account trends. May provide support and direction to other sales team members for same.

4. Develop and continually enhance relationships with key corporate, business and travel industry accounts.

5. Maintain accurate, legible records and files consistent with established automated or manual sales system.     

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

1. Participate in training, trade shows, field trips and community, industry and professional organizations to maintain high visibility in support of the achievement of sales and revenue goals.  

2. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned and participate in task forces and committees as requested.  

   

Job Requirements

 

Education:  Four year college degree or equivalent education/experience

Experience:  A minimum of one year sales experience in a related position with this company or other another organization(s). Hotel sales experience preferred.

 Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform critical analysis.
  • Ability to manage extensive amounts of information
  • Extensive knowledge of negotiating and sales procedures associated with the hotel industry.
  • Excellent written skills sufficient to produce sales and marketing communication that properly reflects the Pyramid Image.
  • Excellent spoken and presentation skills
  • Considerable ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team.
  • Ability to delegate, manage manpower and organize complex projects and establishes priorities consistent with department/hotel objectives.
  • Ability to effectively deal with department heads, customers and team members, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints.
