We are currently seeking a Human Resources Manager for the Music City Center in Nashville, TN.    

Located in the heart of Tennessee, the brand new 1.2 million square foot Music City Center opens in May 2013 and features 350,000 square feet of exhibit hall, a 57,000 square foot grand ballroom, a 18,000 square foot junior ball room and 60 meeting rooms.  This new landmark facility will be the gathering spot for both hundreds of thousands of visitors seeing Nashville for the first time as well as a central meeting point for local residents.  The Center will be found downtown, adjacent to both the Bridgestone Arena and the Country Music Hall of Fame and is steps away from the Ryman Auditorium and Broadway honky tonks.  

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: This position serves as a business partner to Senior Management to provide sound leadership and guidance that assist in meeting operating and financial goals, client objectives and customer needs at the unit level. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for coordination of all interviews, application and pre-employment processes, partnering with all departments to identify and select the most qualified candidates.
  • Ensures optimum staffing levels exist throughout the unit at all times for operational success. Performs this by partnering with all departments to proactively meet staffing needs, inclusive of hourly, salary and temporary associates. Develops and leads "staffing" processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for the coordination of all departmental orientation of new employees, on-the-job training, and informing them of all appropriate safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Supports Corporate initiatives/strategies.
  • Administers employee recognition programs. Champions positive employee relations.
  • Accountable for the effective management, administration, investigating and reporting of all Worker's Compensation and Unemployment Claims, Affirmative Action, EEO, Harassment, Discrimination, and other ER issues.
  • Provides professional consultation to General Manager and Leadership Team regarding performance management, career development, workforce planning and staffing strategy implementation.
  • Ensures that all federal, state, and local laws, corporate and site specific Human Resources related compliance matters are proactively managed.
  • Demonstrates leadership for the Human Resources function by utilizing sound, professional judgment during recommendation and decision making processes.
  • Proactively ensures that HR Audits are completed and compliant.
  • Responsible for the consistent execution of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Manages disciplinary process, exit interviews and coaching and counseling sessions.
  • Assists employees with questions of benefit program application and directs them appropriately as questions of the program may arise. Manages payroll process.
  • Ensures that all governmental regulations are compliant relative to FLSA / wage and hour laws.
  • Investigates and authorizes/validates any/all payroll discrepancies, if applicable.
  • Manages the Annual Assessment Process, by assisting with the development of Career Roadmaps for each manager - coordinates internal / external development opportunities via Career Matrix.
  • Develops and implements necessary training programs specific to the unit.
  • Directly responsible for proactively managing the Risk Management Objectives.
  • Communicates organizational objectives relative to OSHA Frequency, HACCP Program, Alcohol Awareness Program, and Hazardous Material Program.
  • Maintains and communicates necessary reports - Alcohol Incident Forms, Incident / Accident Reports, Liability Claim Forms, Food borne Illness Reports, etc.
  • Provides necessary training (TIPS, Serve Safe, Hazmat / Ecolab, Forklift, etc.)
  • Establish relationships with local area educational institutions - targeting their appropriate programs to establish a recruitment pipeline.
  • Cultivate involvement with community events that strengthen company presence.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as requested and required from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: 

  • Required: 4 years previous experience in an HR leadership role.
  • Demonstrated successful interfacing with a variety of organizational functions to get the job done.
  • Bachelor's degree (HR or organizational development would be more desirable).  
  • Preferred:
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification or higher.  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to independently inspect and maneuver throughout facilities in a fast-paced, often tightly-quartered, environment.

Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
