responsible for the overall marketing function for all aspects of the hotel’s operation and  lead the development and execution of strategic Marketing Plans and initiatives that maximize profitability for the hotel.  Create awareness and promote hotel services and amenities through advertising, direct mail, E-mail campaigns, collateral, online marketing, GDS, customer relationship marketing etc. Positions and enhances the hotel’s image in the local community as well as nationally and internationally.  Responsible for the effective communication of all marketing initiatives to all departments, acts as a support to the Sales and PR team in various activities and promotions.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and assist the hotel in the development, implementation and achievement of their annual business and marketing plan objectives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and assistance relating to the execution of marketing functions, policies and standards as established by The  Westin La Paloma.
  • Capitalize on The  Westin La Paloma marketing programs and resources.
  • Direct coordination of cross-selling, joint marketing initiatives and other hotel/brand synergies to maximize exposure and profitability including agency contact, media planning and hotel communications.
  • Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry locally, nationally and internationally to detect market trends and related information for development of new marketing strategies.
  • Act as resource for advertising and production costs for all departments in hotel and acts as the main contact person for the resort’s advertising agency.
  • Based on the marketing plan, control and monitor marketing spend.
  • Keep current on all online marketing opportunities.
  • Implement electronic Marketing Programs in order to target new and existing guests in an economical and effective manner.
  • Ensure that the most up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive information appears on the property/corporate website for Leisure, Travel Agent, Meeting Planner, Member use etc.
  • Provide the Sales Team, PR, Conference Service Team and all other Departments (e.g. Spa, dining outlets, membership etc.) with all necessary support as it relates to electronic, interactive marketing mediums, presentation tools and collateral requirements.
  • Ensure that the property appears on all booking channels (compatible internet sites, third party sites, GDS, CRS, consortia, wholesalers) with accurate information, availability and special offers.
  • Develops and implement a Customer Relationship Marketing plan - set up processes and standard operating procedures to collect and manage guest history
  • Attend Business Focus Meeting to understand hotel’s need periods.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Management.
  • Participate as an active member in hotel related social and community related activities.
  • Support other team members in Sales when required.
  • Provide all Marketing Related Reports including preparation of annual Marketing Plan and Budget presentations and monthly owner’s reports.
  • Interview, hire, train, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate
  • Responsible for receiving, processing and investigating complaints made per the existing harassment policy.

Flexible Schedule: Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Physical Demands

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors.  Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day.   Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day.  This includes travelling to and from meetings and may include air travel.  Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed. 

Education - Bachelor’s Degree required.  Marketing and/or Communications related university or college degree.

Experience - Two or more years in a marketing role in the hospitality industry. Experience working with and managing an agency relationship.

Grooming - All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Starwood standards.
