We are currently seeking a Payroll Clerk to work at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY, and the Saratoga Track in Saratoga Springs, NY.  The ideal candidate will be professional and possess excellent organizational and communication skills

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:

Properly administer pay to employees while adhering to appropriate law, customs and company policies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Calculate and enter hourly payroll.
  • Verify payroll to Time Keeping System.
  • Transmit payroll to corporate office within corporate deadlines.
  • Verify that payroll transmitted agrees to the weekly reports received from the corporate office.
  • Receive pay checks from corporate payroll and verify that all checks are present.(where applicable).
  • Research employee paycheck complaints and make necessary corrections.
  • Process stop payment and manual check request forms when necessary.
  • Keep the monthly Tip Reporting form current and send to corporate on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain Seniority forms lists, post ranking if necessary or requested.
  • Complete federal, state, county and city public assistance forms for appropriate employees.
  • Keep the payroll system current and correct with new employee additions, pay rate changes, address changes, and proper terminations.
  • Keep the Time Keeping system current with new employee additions, job code changes and proper terminations.
  • Maintain the filing and answer phone(s).
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Required:

  • Ability to perform arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) involving all US monetary units.
  • Ability to use calculator.  Should have some computer knowledge.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Payroll experience.
  • Prior Lawson knowledge.
  • Prior database management preferred.

OTHER REQUIRMENTS:

Must be able to independently maneuver throughout the facility in a fast paced, often tightly-quartered environment.  Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
