We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Chef for our A’la Carte Kitchen.

We are currently searching for a motivated working chef with more than three years experience as a Sous Chef with a fine dining operational background. We are also looking for the one person who understands the vast array of member preferences to food. We want to peak member’s interests in modern current cuisine while continuing to respect the traditions of Lakeside Country Club.

 Lakeside Country Club is a private country club located on the west side of Houston. We offer our membership an 18 hole golf course, 13 tennis courts, an aquatic center, golf,, fitness, tennis and pool resort facilities.  Founded in 1951, Lakeside Country Club is a premier private member-owned country club in the West Houston area. Members and guests alike enjoy the wide array of traditionally elegant facilities.  The main clubhouse is 68,000 square feet and is open 6 days per week, year round.  Amenities include A'la Carte dining, outdoor resort dining as well as 6 banquet dining rooms. We are enjoying banner years in food sales and started a several multimillion dollar upgraded renovations to the club.

 

Duties and responsibilities and requirements

  • Provide leadership to the staff, pushing them in the direction the Executive Chef requires.
  • Supervises the staff to ensure they follow the daily operating procedures with regards to sanitizer buckets, recipes, plate construction, timely production, etc.. 
  • Responsible for walking the floor when the Executive Chef is not available. 
  • Assist with the organizational aspects of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, storeroom, line and reach-in coolers.
  •  When not working stations, will work the middle of the line, finishing off the plates, pushing the employees on the line and pushing the orders in a timely manner. 
  • Assists in the development of training programs and identifying professional development opportunities for all kitchen staff
  • Coordinates buffet presentation
  • Expedites food orders during peak service hours
  • Supervises, trains and evaluates kitchen personnel
  •  Complete open and close duties as scheduled.
  •  Must be able to interact with the membership on a regular basis. 
  • Candidate must have a firm grasp of food and labor cost requirements
  • A firm understanding of food rotation and walk-in management
  • Must have solid foundation of culinary knowledge
  • Experience in the management of other employees: must be able to motivate employees; guide employees in a positive manner; assist with discipline when necessary; and be able to listen and provide constructive feedback
  • Must be able to maintain composure in stressful situations;
  • Be able to contribute to the creative direction of the kitchen
  • Must be a reliable, steady presence in the kitchen
  • Minimum of two years experience in a leadership position preferred
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (breakfast, lunch & dinner)
