Position Description
The Market Manager will be responsible for building revenue growth and developing and sustaining strong hotel partner relationships within their assigned markets (Minneapolis as well as monthly/regular travel to Indianapolis). This includes: negotiating favourable inventory rates and allocations at property level and driving key activities that support Expedia's revenue goals and strategic objectives. The core focus for this position is to drive revenue for a defined area through managing a portfolio of local lodging suppliers in their market in an effort to build a sustainable long term relationship resulting in superior revenue results and inventory supply. The successful candidate will have related work experience or college degree, they will have strong organizational, communication, and people skills and will have the ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment

This position is a market-based role responsible for building revenue growth and developing and sustaining strong hotel partner relationships within their assigned markets. Responsibilities:
* Negotiate directly with local market hotel management to obtain favorable room allocations, rates, and additional inventory during compressed periods
* Represent Expedia's full suite of product offerings to customers
* Serve as single point of contact and the "voice of Expedia" for customers
* Negotiate favorable margins with hotels
* Maintain Expedia market competitiveness by ensuring that rates adhere to "meet or beat" guidelines
* Maximize Expedia yields for assigned properties
* Develop strong partnerships with hotel management to foster reliance on Expedia as a trusted distribution partner and advisor
* Convert current GDS hotels to ESR merchant model as appropriate and in the best interests of Expedia
* Achieve other strategic objectives for Expedia, including ARI conversions, EFT conversions, and activation of Expedia Corporate Travel accounts
* Navigate internal systems and troubleshoot issues with other Expedia groups
* Provide direction and guidance to Market Coordinators
* Work with other Expedia teams to build strong market presence, effective merchandising, significant demand, and attractive value propositions
* Responsible for all market management functions in defined Expedia markets comprising X% of Expedia's overall business (determined by Partner Services management)
* Possesses deep understanding of industry, market, and customer issues
* Tackles complex customer issues and serves as advisor to Market Managers
* May assume temporary role as acting Director of Market Management from time to time as needed
* May directly manage Market Managers, City Specialists, and/or Revenue Managers in key markets

Qualifications:
Essential Core Requirement for all levels typically includes:
* Demonstrated understanding of how to match market demand and supply
* Must meet minimum level of related work experience or college degree, Revenue Management is preferred
* Strong written and oral communication skills; including fundamental presentation skills and the demonstrated ability to articulate ideas clearly and appropriately influence others
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Able to use and navigate the Internet
* Ability to work and thrive in a multi-tasked, fast paced environment
