The BEST WESTERN PLUS Kalamazoo Suites is seeking a new leader for our housekeeping department that has a passion for hospitality and is Accountable, Authentic, Compassionate, and Driven.  The Housekeeping Supervisor coordinates and directs the activities of the Housekeeping and Breakfast Bar Departments and directs all personnel performing housekeeping and Breakfast Bar tasks.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hiring of individuals needed for the Housekeeping and Breakfast Departments.
  • Gives written and verbal guidance to Supervisors and line employees through meetings, training, and scheduling.
  • Ensures employee safety and the correct operation of equipment by providing written and verbal training.
  • Checks guestrooms after housekeeper has serviced them to ensure cleanliness and upheld standards.
  • Reviews, organizes, plans, and implements changes in projects and day-to-day operations as needed.
  • Prepare daily and weekly payroll reports to ensure company policy and goals are being met.
  • Inspects Breakfast Department to ensure qualities of material and proper techniques are used at all times.
  • Delegates tasks to employees.
  • Monitors levels of inventory and supplies.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of usage and uses forecast information to assure adequate supplies are available.
  • Responds immediately to guests' comments and concerns and takes corrective action when appropriate.
  • Directs planning and hosting of department meetings.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with other hotel departments.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Supervisor.
  • Works varying hours and days, often on a 6 day work schedule.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holiday.

Required Skills and Requisites

 

  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media; engaging the audience and helping them understand and retain the message. Requires effective reading, writing and oral comprehension.
  • Leadership qualities. Skilled at building a cohesive team and facilitating goal accomplishment by aligning individual and team actions with strategies and plans to drive business results.  Service orientation.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  
    Possess ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, communication skills and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in a hotel environment within housekeeping department preferred.
  • Muss posses thorough knowledge of laundry and housekeeping operations
  • Must have knowledge of hotel operations, including cost control, budgeting, labor relations, quality assurance, safety and security procedures
  • High School Diploma required.
  •  Ability to work extended hours and flexible shifts when necessary.
  • Ability to work on an "on call" nature and return to work after regular hours when requested by supervisor.
  • Ability to walk, stand, push, pull, bend, reach overhead and execute repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally during scheduled shift.
  • Ability to work in a structured environment.
  • Ability to operate vacuum, and work with various cleaning supplies.
  • Ability to work in food service and breakfast bar.
  • Ability to push housekeeping cart.
