DoubleTree Pittsburgh - Monroeville Convention Center is seeking a passionate individual to join our team as the Convention Services Manager!

Reponsibilities Include but Not Limited To:

  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to meet and exceed standards.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other departments, employees and guests.
  • Maintain work area clean and organized.
  • Promote employee empowerment.
  • Report all unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel; guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, switchboard, accounting, restaurants, bars, and engineering.
  • Consult newspapers, trade journals, etc., to learn of contemplative conventions and social functions and to learn about the market and trends.
  •  Effectively evaluate each piece of business, based on rates, dates, and space requirements.
  • Execute guarantee and cut-off policies.
  • Prepare letters, proposals, BEO’s, thank-you notes, etc.
  • Follow up on all turn-overs within 24 hours via telephone and within 3 days with written correspondence.
  • Know meeting room set-ups and capabilities.
  • Know sleeping room configurations and types.
  • Respond to requests by Meeting Planners immediately.
  • Create, review and revise rooming lists and VIP lists.
  • Manage the function book and adjust space in order to ensure maximum potential revenue
  • Check with group contact during meeting.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Coordinate VIP gifts, deliveries.
  • Entertain guests.
  • Maintain price integrity both in rooms and food and beverage, using revenue management and pre-printed menus.
  • Pre-check room setups, prior to arrival of the group.
  • Refer to Sales Manager for additional business opportunities if appropriate.
  • Relay accurate forecast information for rolling forecasts.
  • Responsible for increasing overall revenue per attendee via aggressive upselling techniques, rooms management strategies, value added offerings and other creative methods.
