Prepares work schedules in accordance with forecasted occupancy.

Supervises the day to day activities of engineers, laborers or grounds maintenance as appropriate.

Conducts inspections of public space and does follow-up as needed.

Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize associate productivity and satisfaction of direct reports.

 Selects, orients, and trains qualified associates, when necessary.

 Coordinates staffing required and payroll and controls purchases to conform with productivity and budgetary standards.

 Assists with yearly budget. Recommends purchases of products; remaining within budget.

 Works side by side with associates as necessary to provide rooms to meet forecasted demand.

 Responds to both customer and hotel staff reports of non-functioning areas immediately.

 Maintains problem log book to record the equipment in need of repair and priorities accordingly.

 Maintains rooms in optimal operating condition by performing repairs as needed.

 Understands and implements the Room Preventive Maintenance Program (RPM).

 Attends schools or seminars to remain current on proper techniques.

 Maintains operating equipment in working condition by performing routine equipment checks and repairs.

 Demonstrates familiarity with the hotel's life safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems which affect the security or operating condition of the hotel.

 Handles master set of keys in accordance with JHM Hotels policy for the overall security of the hotel.

 Maintains safe working conditions within department and hotel.

 Insures that all associates follow safety rules and procedures.

 Takes corrective action where required to improve safety of work areas.

 Reports any hazards or injuries in the department or hotel and takes immediate action to correct.

 Minimizes safety hazards by insuring all safety rules and procedures are followed throughout the hotel.

Coordinates maintenance work with other departments; Front Office, Housekeeping, Banquets, etc.

Develop and maintain productive interpersonal relationships and the ability to relate well with a wide variety of individuals, many of who will require patience and tolerance.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

College degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred; 2-5 years experience as an Engineer or Engineering Supervisor; minimum 1 year experience in a Mechanic IV level or Assistant Chief Engineer position preferred; experience with food and beverage equipment desirable.
