CORPORATE CONTROLLER

The Corporate Controller will have a dual reporting relationship. First, on the functional basis, they report directly to the company's management. Second and equally important, the candidate must be responsive to the hotel and food & beverage department managers, by providing sound business and financial management support.

JOB DESCRIPTION & DUTIES:

The duties of this full-time position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring daily cash activity & creating the timely reports
  • Preparing intercompany bank transfers and reconciling bank statements.  Provide daily sales and deposit information to management.
  • Reconciling balance sheet and ensuring that account balances are supported by appropriate documentation, in accordance with SOPs.
  • Candidate shall ensure that the P & L is accurate, and that statements are delivered to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner.  Reconciles balance sheet and ensures that account balances are supported by appropriate documentation, in accordance with SOPs.
  • Duties also include assisting with annual internal audit control testing performed on the operating entities managed by the Company.
  • Completion and filing of monthly sales, use and occupancy tax returns and remittances.
  • The position supports a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability, and manage business risks.
  • Preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts; establish or recommend to management major economic objectives and policies for Hotel.
  • Responsible for month-end closing process which includes: maintaining corporate general ledgers; preparing monthly journal entries; preparing the monthly consolidation; preparing monthly elimination entries; maintaining the hotel’s chart of accounts, and reconciling inter-company accounts. This individual is also responsible for drafting monthly, quarterly and annual reports, preparing audit schedules for quarterly reviews and the annual audits and draft stand-alone financial statements.
  • Analyze financial information detailing revenues and expenses, prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize hotel's current and projected financial position. Support management and hotel financial goals. Establish and modify documents and coordinate implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Identify variances, and making recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
  • Responsible to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.
  • Assists with weekly, monthly and annual reporting, including consolidated hotel analytical and statistical reports.
  • The Candidate must be capable of leveraging technology and effectively uses information systems and tools to generate financial reports and provides analytical support to drive sound decision-making.
  • In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The Candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree (Accounting) and a minimum of four (4) years continuous practical accounting / finance experience in the hospitality industry.

Must be M3 and Accpac proficient.
