The Salon Manager is responsible for the functional management of the salon. This position reports to the Spa Director and Spa Operations Manager.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Learn the names and personally recognize our regular guests and members
- Assist in the overall operations of the salon including sales, human resources, inventory control, merchandising, providing outstanding guest service, and maximizing profits by controlling expenses
- Demonstrate high degree of professionalism in communication and attitude with guests, staff and management team
- Meet/exceed salon sales budget through staff recruiting, productivity, development, salon service promotions and demonstrations
- Demonstrate proper etiquette when communicating with internal and external guests (i.e. in person, phone and e-mail)
- Coordinate and participate in the stocking, facing and overall maintenance of salon retail area
- Coach, develop and motivate the team on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to meet goals
- Comply with all established policies and procedures
- Maximize salon profits through inventory management
- Demonstrate high level of quality in work, attendance and appearance
- Monitor salon payroll and non-payroll expenses to meet budget goals
- Take timely corrective action on expense budget variances as directed by Spa Director
- Ensure adequate staffing to meet guest levels and sales goals
- Conduct timely reviews and communicate development needs with direct reports and set goals and identify areas for improvement.
- Rearrange and adjust work schedules based on business needs and levels
- Maintain high salon morale through efficient, timely communications of policies and other information
- Follow through on all concerns or problems that develop within the salon
- Provide recognition and support to staff to meet personal sales goals
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one's ability
- If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed (if computer access is not available give information to admin support)
- Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
- Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
- Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
- Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
- Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a office position
- Managing or Supervising a professional staff a plus
- Analytical and reasoning skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Windows XP and Microsoft Office software applications such as: Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
- Proficient with peripherals, copier, fax, telephone and calculator
- Must be able to deal with many personalities with a calm, friendly manner
- Extremely organized, detailed, can quickly make logical resolutions for problems
- Muilti task scheduling, reservations, problem solving and continue at all times to remain gracious, genuine, calm and resourceful

- Must be flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in compliance with company Dress Code Policy
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods
- If applicable, must have the ability to work for extended time periods in an outdoor environment, including sun, heat, cold, wind, rain, and higher than normal noise levels
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
- Ability to lift, carry, pull and push up to 50 lbs intermittently or repeatedly throughout a shift
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
- May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and fume hazards
- No visible tattoos, visible body piercing or unnatural hair color or hairstyles per company grooming standards
