Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Sheraton Universal is seeking a bilingual English/Chinese Controller. This position will manage company's accounting activities. The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Manages all accounting functions including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and purchasing
  • Reviews, evaluates and implements accounting systems, policies, and procedures
  • Ensures all financial reports are prepared in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepares and present financial statements and related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, and variance analysis
  • Supervises monthly balancing of books and monthly account review; prepares and presents monthly financial statements
  • Supervises and manages company's profit sharing/401K program. Interfaces with financial brokers as well as third party administrator to ensure all facets are functioning according to federal and state regulations
  • Coordinates annual independent audit and preparation of annual tax documents
  • Assists in budget preparation with CEO/COO, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification for proposed budgets
  • Provides management with timely review of organization's financial status and progress
  • Ensures compliance with statutory payroll and property tax reporting
  • Monitors receivables to ensure credit risk is mitigated
  • Oversees accounts payable function including but not limited to compliance with expense reporting, capitalization policy, and purchase order procedures
  • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates and develops accounting and finance managers; manages schedules and workflow
  • Assists with special projects as required

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or five to seven year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and ACPAC; type 55-60 wpm, 10-key by touch, and strong analytical experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write communication for presentations regarding the hotel and services available. Ability to present information to senior management or public groups.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of math. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to analyze financial data and complete detailed financial reports.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
