POSITION SUMMARY: Head the banquet department operations, logistics, presentation, service and
financial standards in accordance with Kimpton guidelines to ensure guest, employee and
investor satisfaction.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the banquet department. Duties are as follows but not limited
to:
- Responsible for creating the banquet labor expense model for the annual budget
- Complete and thorough understanding of the banquet operating budget, revenues, expenses and
CARs
- Responsible for the scheduling of banquet servers and housepersons, balancing the needs of the
customers and property staffing ratios
- Review and make decisions on department profit and loss statements, ensuring investor
satisfaction
- Implement controls for labor or operating expenses
- Ensures all local laws and certifications are met and on file
- Must keep current with all local and state regulations concerning hourly wages, food and alcoholic
beverage distribution, entertainment, safety and hotel policies/licenses
- Maintains current certifications necessary
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a Banquet beverage program with costing structure,
secured storage and requisition system
- Complete and maintain the banquet payroll information ensuring the accurate distribution of
gratuity, accurate timecard process and vacation requests.
- Head the weekly BEO review and daily BEO meetings
- Attend weekly staff meeting with other department leaders
- Maintain vendor contracts, ordering levels, inventory and process billing for all departmental
supplies - CGS, Linen, Beverages, small wares etc.
- Resolve guest and interdepartmental issues in a fair and consistent manner
- Must keep abreast and identify current trends in all areas of banquets- food, beverage,
equipment, décor and service.
- Implement Kimpton standards or new standards for the banquet department
- Attend and present at pre-cons and communicate with group contact /host throughout VIP events
- Continuously monitor the banquet floor and ensure the highest level of presentation and service
is being delivered, thus ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Continuously monitor and schedule maintenance of the meeting space areas - air walls, carpet,
drapes, furniture etc.
- Analyze BEO and detailing process to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business
- Make all employment decisions; conducts and issues all hiring, disciplinary actions, reviews and
rate increases of all banquet employees.
- Supervise, train and coach employees
- Handles employees complaint in a fair and consistent manner, following all documentation
guidelines
- Must understand and champion the worker compensation, incident report and safety guidelines
- Direct and motivate banquet team and ensure a good environment of team work and employee
Satisfaction
A minimum of two years of experience in Banquets and/or Catering
Proven leadership and management skills
Exceptionally detail-oriented with impeccable service and presentation standards
Must be able to implement cost controls and manage the operation in a financially sound manner
Complete understanding of POS and BEO systems (Aloha and Delphi)
Proficient computer skills to include Excel and Word
Position requires reading, writing and communicating effectively with investors, guests, employees and
other department heads
Ability to present and conduct oneself professionally and emulate the Kimpton Culture
