The Convention Center Sales Manager is responsible for developing new business and maintaining relationships with long-term clients that book events inside of 14 months. The position also may have some responsibility for developing City-wide convention and/or trade show business, and works in conjunction with downtown hotel properties and the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau. Additional duties include conducting business development activities to generate new business as assigned; working in tandem with Convention Bureau and/or downtown hotel sales managers to identify and close potential business; negotiating deal points; developing sales proposals; conducting site inspections with prospective clients; and possibly participating in targeted sales missions in key business feeder markets. Currently there is one vacancy at the Phoenix Convention Center.
RECRUITMENT DATES

SALARY
$49,338 - $73,653 annually. Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon qualifications.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Three years of experience in hospitality sales and marketing including booking, contracting, scheduling and planning multiple events for a convention center, hotel, or other large public use facility.
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or other related field.
- An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
- Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
- Travel (in and out-of-state) will be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- The job requirements listed above, plus:
- Public assembly management experience.
- The ability to work with diverse clients.
- Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
- High level of understanding successful marketing/sales techniques.
