Marcus Hotels and Resorts currently seeks a dynamic and aggressive Director of Sales & Marketing to help our sales and catering efforts for the Grand Geneva Resort, Marcus' largest property and recognized one of the Midwest's most comprehensive resort, meeting, spa, fitness and all-season sport facilities. The campus offers 700 guest rooms and over 62,000 square feet of flexible meeting space to meeting planners and groups.

The Director of Sales & Marketing will lead the development and execution of strategic sales & marketing plans and initatives to maximize profitability for the campus.    This position will take the lead on training and guiding the sales team ensuring optimum service resulting in the achievement of departmental goals, increased group, transient and social business levels, higher revenues, increased profitability and decreased cost. He/she will implement and direct the sales plan according to changes in business and market trends, while aggressively pursuing the appropriate mix of rooms and catering business that will ensure the success of the resort and support Marcus sales philosophy.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a working knowledge of hotel operation. Must maintain an awareness of, and apply, current state of the art sales techniques and practices. Our Director of Sales & Marketing is an Executive Committee level position and reports directly to the Managing Director.  


The successful candidate for Director of Sales & Marketing will have a history of success in hotel sales and solid managerial and leadership experience. Ideally, this person will posses a strong knowledge of the greater Chicagoland and Wisconsin markets. He/she must have a high level of professionalism including demeanor and ethics. He/she must be able to communicate effectively with clients, guests, and associates as well as department heads and corporate leadership.

*10+ years experience in a leadership role in the sales function
*Experience in properties of similar size & quality required
*Must be customer service oriented and have the ability to "close the sale" and meet aggressive personal sales goals.
*Working knowledge of Delphi
*Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
*Excellent organizational skills and follow up
*Willingness to travel as needed and work necessary hours, shifts, days required
*Requires a true sales leader that can lead by example and produce results
*Past upscale and/or destination resort experience and college degree preferred
*Strong ties and contacts in Chicagoland, Milwaukee and upper Midwest markets considered a major plus.
