Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution and member of the Five College consortium, is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Event Operations.

The Assistant Director of Event Operations provides leadership and direction for management through detailing events and expense budgets for college and sponsored events. Reporting to the Director of Event Operations and Summer Programs, the Assistant Director will act as the first and consistent line of contact in the office with regards to staff, faculty, and external customers by continuing the “one stop shop” approach for customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include facilitating event logistics, including room set-up requests, time changes, food service, parking, media services, equipment rentals, and all other related event details. The Assistant Director will correspond with conference and event clients during their time on campus to guarantee quality service is provided and contractual obligations are being met. Candidates will be responsible for managing event and expense budgets, and for upselling, proposing and implementing new, creative ideas so to stay current with event trends. The Assistant Director will manage the wedding and Red Barn events with minimal support and guidance from the Director.  In addition, the Assistant Director will independently coordinate summer programs which include summer housing accommodations for assigned programs; the hiring of summer staff in the Robert Crown and Multisport Centers; and the scheduling, managing and directing of staff.  This position is responsible for the hiring and supervision of staff and student and summer employees.

Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Business Management is required with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.  Qualified candidate must be computer proficient; have an attention to detail; possess excellent communication and organizational skills; and have the ability to manage multiple priorities in order to meet deadlines. Applicant must possess a high degree of judgment, problem solving, and resourcefulness. Ideal candidate should have basic sales and marketing experience, as well as a background in coordinating events.  Previous supervisory experience required. Applicants should be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. This position requires occasional evenings & weekends. A commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds required.
