The Salem Waterfront Hotel & Marina is Salem's newest boutique hotel. With a nautical, contemporary, warm decor, the Salem Waterfront Hotel is a luxury hotel with the largest guest rooms on the North Shore of Boston.
Qualified candidates should be well versed in planning, creating, and executing a dynamic marketing strategy to advance company objectives. In addition to having a record of selling successfully, the right candidate will have a passion for prospecting new leads, setting and achieving goals, as well as working hard to build a profitable portfolio of dedicated clients.
Our Sales Manager is a one stop shop, able to sell Group rooms, Catering and Corporate. They must be involved in the solicitation of new business as well as the maintenance of existing transient, group, meeting room and catering business in accordance with goals established by department budget and marketing plan.
Responsibilities:
- Reach or exceed budgeted hotel revenue for defined market segments by identifying and executing strategies to increase the customer base and by enhancing and maintaining customer relations.
- Capture competitors' accounts through networking, research and reader board surveys in order to target and solicit those most profitable to generate new business.
- Negotiate room rates and function space commitments in order to enhance the hotel's financial performance.
- Participate and/or attend hospitality and community organizations/events to include the local chamber, CVB, and other community/networking events to maintain high visibility, promote sales and ensure repeat business.
- Exhibit a positive and involved team attitude to all hotel departments and maintains open communications with all co-workers for the best overall performance of the hotel.
- Maintain contact with current and potential customers via in-person appointments, telephone calls, written correspondence, property tours and community involvement activities.
- Develop and sustain good customer relationship through 24 hour follow-through in planning process, pre-event meetings, on-site meeting management, and post event thank you and feedback solicitation.
- Promptly follow up on all customer needs and inquiries in an efficient and expedient manner.
- Maintain well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management system in order to serve client and employer in the most expedient, organized and knowledgeable manner.
- Achieve activity goals as established by management and complete all weekly and month end reports and assignments in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Attend, participate in and lead weekly sales meetings.
- Inform General Manager of potential opportunities/concerns with clients and progress of special projects.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of two years of strong sales experience within a full-service hotel or catering operation.
- Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment and discretion.
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills to include Word, Excel, Delphi and Outlook.
- A thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions.
- Must have own reliable transportation and possess a valid state drivers license in order to make sales calls or attend networking events.
