The Marketing Manager for Moerlein Lager House (MLH) is responsible for managing the marketing efforts in such a way that an appropriate sales and profitability volumes are achieved within budgeted constraints. The position is accountable for marketing and branding of the MLH product and the implementation of approved marketing programs. Directly develops marketing and promotional programs for MLH.

Position Summary:

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the marketing effort of MLH. This includes, but not limited to, keeping abreast of business conditions, planning sales and promotional campaigns, keeping records of all marketing activity, completing necessary paperwork, maintaining budget control, meeting sales goals, developing new business opportunities with concierges, business managers, chamber of commerce, convention and tourism bureaus and consumers.

Job Duties:

Generates new business through:

  • Leads and cold calling on prospective customers
  • Referrals
  • Increasing business from existing customer base
  • Implementing marketing program
  • Increasing new trials of MLH

Makes persuasive presentations to concierges, business managers, chambers and convention and tourism bureaus on MLH products including answering questions and overcoming objections and obtaining trial and sales.

Produces effective collateral materials for use in presentations and as leave behind with Concierges, Chambers, Convention and Tourism bureaus.

Responsible for monitoring and maintaining all message boards for MLH.

Manages MLH merchandise store by working with various suppliers to ensure adequate selection, sales movement and supply of MLH merchandise. Develops sensible schedule of operation for MLH merchandise store. Manages P&L for store and makes changes accordingly.

Manages the MLH weekly tours: promotes tours and schedules and trains the personnel providing those tours.

Manages MLH Beer Clubs as well as all promotional programming and suggest new ways to enhance its value within budgeted constraints.

Works in conjunction with management to develop an annual marketing plan for MLH. Issues a yearly promotional calendar of all annual marketing events.

Completes documentation of all contact with prospects and reviews all promotions conducted for their effectiveness and profitability.

Analyzes monthly reports by sales and establishes strategies and plans to increase the sales volume in areas performing below plan.

Develops sound knowledge of the MLH product and a working knowledge of other competitive restaurant, brewpub/gastropub products.

Develops and recommends an annual promotional/marketing budget for MLH with direct supervisor in line with corporate objectives and goals,

Manages MLH Social Media content and frequency. Strives to have a vibrant relevant and updated social media presence.

Works on special projects and at special events as assigned or required.

Establishes and maintains a working relationship with organization's operations, accounting, administrative, marketing, private dining, brewers, servers, cooks, bartenders, investors, owners, personnel and direct supervisor to ensure that customer needs are satisfactorily met and goals and objectives are obtained.

Reports to MLH GM

  • 3 - 5 years hospitality marketing experience, preferably in the Cincinnati market
  • Marketing/PR Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Social media experience
  • Marketing budget experience a plus
