Job Summary:
Chartwell Hospitality is seeking an experienced Maintenance Chief to join our award winning management team in Opelika, AL. The position is responsible for maintaining the property to ensure that all guests receive a clean, attractive and secure place to stay with friendly and attentive service.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure an environment in which high standards of comfort, service, and quality exists for our guests.
- Ensures teamwork and enhances cooperation between all departments.
- Ensure the Preventative Maintenance program is on-going and consistent.
- Recruits, interviews, hires and trains new associates.
- Prepares work schedules and ensures maintenance standards are met.
- Maintains all required associate records such as Performance Appraisals and Time Cards.
- Maintains security for guests and property by ensuring that room doors are locked at all times, keys are controlled, reports suspicious activity by guest or others and observes all security and safety regulations.
- Handles all in-house repairs.
- Familiar with all major shut off stations, including water and electric and with fire alarm stations.
- Ensure all daily work orders have been completed.
- Prepares requisitions for replacement of bench stock items, locates and purchases materials needed for emergency repairs, provides administration of outside maintenance contract activity or major systems (i.e., elevators, fire alarm), and other tasks as necessary for the successful operation of the property.
- Ensure all associates wear uniforms and name tags at all times and present them in a professional manner.
- Prepares yearly maintenance budget.
- Responsible for quarterly training of all management team and front office team on fire alarm/enunciators/sprinkler system, etc.
- Must be able to have a flexible schedule and the ability to be on call in case of emergency.
- Acts as Manager on Duty when designated by the General Manager.
- Performs or coordinates other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.

Formal Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Technical training school (with emphasis on HVAC, electrical and plumbing)
Experience:
- Maintenance experience in a leadership position is required. Hotel, Retirement Facility, Apartment Complex or Large
Commercial Building Maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of two years of previous team management or supervisory experience is required.
