Chief Engineer sought for high-end/boutique resort opened in May 2003. Located in the breathtaking mountains of Northern New Mexico, within walking distance of the historic Taos Plaza, this resort caters to luxury seeking, globe trotting clientele. The resort features 84 rooms uniquely decorated with hand painted murals and custom crafted furnishings, a full service restaurant, banquet and meeting spaces, a day spa, and a pool. The Chief Engineer is primarily responsible for managing all engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant with particular attention towards safety, security, and asset protection. Accountable for managing the budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. Responsible for maintaining regulatory requirements. Leads the emergency response team for all facility issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops and maintains a schedule and budget for the assigned engineering project.
Provides reports on the status of project milestones and adjusts schedules accordingly.
Controls expenditures within limitations of budget.
Supervises day to day operations of Engineering.
Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with Grand Performers and other department leaders.
Strives to improve service performance.
Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members.
Provides feedback to Grand Performers based on observation of service behaviors.
Supervises Grand Performers' ability to execute department and hotel emergency procedures.
Manages department's controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
Ensures hotel policies are administered fairly and consistently.
Manages the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems.
Maintains and operates equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
Establishes and manages an effective room's maintenance program.
Ensures regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.
Establishes priorities for total hotel maintenance needs.
Empowers Grand Performers to provide excellent customer service.
Maintains accurate logs and records as required.
Ensures disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to the Progressive Discipline Policy.
Does effectively plans, schedules, and evaluates preventative maintenance programs.
Handles guest problems and complaints effectively.
Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required.
Recommends or arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
Selects and orders or purchases new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages Grand Performers in the Engineering Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
* Seven to Ten years of related experience
* Three to Five years experience in a Four or Five Diamond hotel
* Ability to work flexible schedule (weekends/ holidays)
