Job Description

GOAL: To maintain round the clock management presence by acting as the Hotel Manger on the overnight shift, managing all areas of the Hotel. In particular, to be a strong management presence and support at the Front Desk, ensuring that the Front Office operation remains consistent in standards and performance and supporting the FO daytime operation.

PRINICIPLE DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow up with all departments to ensure that overnight duties are completed correctly and special projects are completed as designated by department heads.
  • Provide feedback to management on all guest and employee issues that occur overnight. Take corrective action as required/directed. High level of communication. Communicate call offs timely.
  • Make decisions based on ground judgment and as per Hotel policy in the absence of upper management. (guest, employee and hotel issues).
  • Responsible for selling out Hotel to achieve maximum revenue. Handle "walk" situations as per Hotel procedures.
  • Communicate with guests and employees both verbally and in writing to answer questions and provide clear direction in advising and instructing staff in details of work.
  • Answer TripAdvisor, GSM comments, and any other social media concerns.
  • Ensure that staff adheres to all credit/cash policies and procedures to reduce bad debts and rebates. Perform quality audits and take corrective action when appropriate.
  • Assist staff members in handling guest issues that may arise.
  • Maintain positive relations with employees and promote good inter/intra-department relations. Responsible for seeing the same of other management and line staff within the Front Office.
  • Ensure that problems are addressed as soon as possible, and seek input from the employee on the problem. Develops plans with the employee to resolve issues and follow up with feedback and encouragement.
  • Responsible for department supervisors are dependable and accessible to their employees and project a positive, professional, and polite attitude at all times.
  • Ensure that staff adheres to all established standard operating procedures of the Hotel.
  • Tour operating departments throughout the overnight shift to ensure that they are running smoothly.
  • Responsible for seeing that the grooming and general appearance of all Overnight employees is impeccable at all times and nametags are worn.
  • Inventory and tracking for Front Office.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATIONAL - Bachelor's Degree preferred; however, any combination of education and training within hotel sales may also be considered

EXPERIENCE - Minimum of two to years experience as Front Office Supervisor. OPERA experience preferred.

SKILLS - Ability to work in a fast paces environment and manage a large diverse work force. Capable of motivating staff and promote self improvement

WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Ability to assist any staff when needed. Lift 50 lbs, standing for long periods of time.

ANALYTICAL DEMANDS - Ability to monitor occupancy and pace forecasts and plan accordingly.

Able to work overnight, with the flexibility to adjust to a day schedule according to business needs.
