Seeking a Director of Finance for the 172-room, newly-renovated Aloft Hotel Silicon Valley (formerly W Silicon Valley) in Newark, California to be responsible for all aspects of financial management at the Hotel. This individual will be responsible for safeguarding the owner’s assets by establishing and maintaining sound internal control systems.
Job Description:
- Establish effective internal control policies and procedures and ensure compliance
- Timely provide monthly financial data to the corporate office necessary for preparation of the monthly financial statements
- Prepare annual operating budgets and monthly variance analyses
- Manage budgets and financial plans through revenue generation and expense control
- Prepare cash flow and operating forecasts
- Understand and comply with all of the Hotel’s contractual documents including but not limited to the management contract, license agreement, Collective Bargaining Agreement, vendor agreements and group meeting contracts
- Ensure operating supplies and other items are sourced, bid and purchased within brand and budget guidelines
- Work with the department heads to bid and negotiate vendor agreements and monitor vendor compliance
- Review, approve, and process purchase orders and disbursements
- Adhere to corporate accounting and operating policies and procedures including cash, credit card and direct billing policies
- Regularly interact with department heads to ensure each is adhering to hotel policies and procedures and performing within budget guidelines
- Effectively manage payables and receivables
- Train, supervise and develop the accounting department employees
- Achieve positive results from internal and external financial audits
- Prepare any special reports, statements and other items as requested
- Perform other special projects and responsibilities as assigned
Job Requirements:
Candidate must possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Four or more years of Hospitality Finance / Accounting experience
- Organized, efficient, ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize daily activities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Certified Public Accounting license preferred
- Ability to provide strong business references
