PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for the solicitation and management of designated market(s) to ensure all financial and sales goals are achieved or exceeded.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. 60% Account prospecting, solicitation, and development via telephone, personal contact, outside calls, correspondence, email and other means of communication.  Conduct hotel site inspections, entertain both in house and off property, and maintain thorough follow up methods. 
  2. 15% Prepare and present proposals and contracts both written and verbal in a prompt, accurate, profitable, pleasant and professional manner.
  3. 10% Assist in the supervision of staff, strategic planning, goal setting, and other departmental activities.
  4. 5% Handle account details and coordinate final arrangements with Convention Services department.
  5. 5% Attend meetings including, but not limited to, pre-convention, business review, departmental.
  6. 5% Represent hotel at trade shows, civic/business functions, industry-related associations, and other events to promote the hotel and/or the city.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Proficient computer knowledge.
  2. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  3. Basic mathematical skills that allow for calculation of room blocks, average rates, and forecast information.
  4. Ability to travel. Reliable transportation required for weekly local outside sales calls.
  5. Flexibility to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  6. Ability to organize detailed information.
  7. Ability to work independently while accepting ongoing training and supervision.
  8. Strong willingness to learn the designated market(s).
  9. Work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities at once, take initiative and follow through with all leads, be able to book significant group business.
  10. Maintain solid working relationships with clients.
